ARSENAL...One Step Forward.....

Arsenal will carry a slim advantage next week when they travel to El Madrigal. Kolo Toure’s strike just before half time was the solitary goal in the match. The yellow submarines were tattooed all over with 5 yellow cards as they were undertaking damage control exercise.

One thing I appreciate about “Royal Village” is that they play ‘football’. They play a good passing game and not use long ball tactics.

Overall, Arsenal were the better side with two goals disallowed for wrong offside calls. The South American flavor of play acting was fully evident by theatrics from all and especially from Jose Mari. But the referee had none of it & this play acting cost villareal a stone cold penalty when Gilberto appended Jose Mari in the box.

Reyes will be back in the 2nd leg to give the necessary impetus on the left wing.

Busy & immensely crucial 7 days ahead for Arsenal as they take on spurs & then the return leg at villareal. Hope they keep the momentum going.

EPL weekend review............'Bergkamp Day'

Arsenal beat West Brom 3-1 with Hleb scoring the opening goal. Quashie equalized on 72nd minute & it seemed as if yet another frustrating evening was beckoning for arsenal. But then the dutch master stepped in to set up a goal for Pires. And finally scored one himself with a peach of a finish. It was ‘Bergkamp day’ as he had completed 10 yrs at highbury, so was very apt for him to score. It was really touching to see hoards of arsenal supporters sporting orange for him. 10 yrs of top quality service to Arsenal, he is a legend in true sense. He still has 2 yrs of football to offer but its his wish to finish career at arsenal n so is retiring. If Henry is the king, Bergkamp is the emperor.

Well, Man(ure)’s title challenge was pre-empted by the cow-dung from stadium of ‘litter’. My salute to the team for putting up such a determined fight to Chelsea. I m sure they wont give up as yet. But I guess its all over now. Blue is the color yet again. (‘Money cant buy u everything, but almost everything’)

Liverpool edged past rovers 1-0 with fowler scoring a controversial goal.

Pompey showed grit to nick a 1-0 victory against boro, and thus move above the r-zone. Birmingham city were beaten 3-1 by the villans. Watch out for the wonderful Gary Cahill goal in that match.

Rest of the matches are not worth talking.

NEVER OUTGUNNED.......................

Arsenal keep their CL campaign on track by holding on for a 0-0 draw at Turin & qualify for semis for 1st ever time. Solid defending by Senderos & co helped gunners keep a clean sheet. Overall, arsenal reigned in the match and undoubtedly had better chances. Hleb, eboue are showing some real quality down the right wing. Almost close to the Pires-cole combination that used to be so effective on the left side. Nedved was influential as usual. But ultimately got sent off after 2 yellow card fouls, both on eboue. Zambrotta was outstanding & I rate him among the top notch full backs of the world.

Next in line will be the yellow submarines. Reyes got himself an avoidable yellow card & so will miss the first leg.

Two giants will clash in the other semifinal as Barca take on AC Milan. Arsenal r lucky to not face both of these as already they ve had 2 acid tests.

Though Villareal has seen off three english teams this season; this bunch of young guns are tough to beat.

In domestic front, Bolton CL hopes took a setback as they went down to Birmingham. Jarosiks long range effort was enough to pull the pseudo-“blues” out of relegation zone.

Let look forward to the weekend fixtures & most importantly the Super-Duper Sunday match between arsenal-manu(re).

WHT an eventful race it was.
Button's car tailed flames and smoke just 30 mtrs short of the finish.
Both the ferraris crashed out.
Montoya pulled out 11 laps short of the finish.
Webber pulled out when he was leading at a point of time.
Alonso WON..................................
This was the spaniard's second win of the season. With this win Renault completed the hat-trick in the first three races of the season.
In a crazy race where every car looked like it w'd crash at some point of time, the champ kept his cool. He was helped by the crashes , as he overtook the pole-sitter button after the first safety car left the tracks. He managed to stay out of trouble and thus got himself 28 points after the third race of the season.
Kimi who came second was just 1.8 secs behind alonso.
Ralf who started at eight position , managed to stay in the race move to the third position. It was an impressive run by the german.
So,'s Fernando Vs Kimi again this season............with Renault looking more consistent......Fernando is definitely the favorite..........

Raina saves the day for India

IND vs ENG second ODI: India won by 4 wkts in the second ODI against England.
India did well to restrict England to 226, with powar claiming 3 wkts. Though the score was not huge , India as usual made a mess. They were 92/5 at a point of time. Just when India wanted, Suresh Raina scored his maiden half century to see India through the target.
Raina scored unbeaten 81 off 89 balls.
India is up in this 7 match series by 2-0. Still five more to go.
Can England make a comeback?

Anti-racism award for ARSENAL

Arsenal football club has been awarded with Anti-racism award by uefa and anti-racist organization kick -it - out.
The award was presented to the arsenal chairman during the recently concluded champions league first leg clash against juventus.
Arsenal captain Thiery Henry has been a prominent supporter of the anti-racism drive.
Another great achievement by this great club.
Cash rich clubs like Real-Madrid and Chelsea can contribute a lot more to football by supporting such cause , rather than spend all their fortune in buying big players.
Arsenal may not be winning trophies right now but they are surely winning hearts.
